ABOUT
BEECODEX

Beecodex started in 2018 with just one engineer and a pretty straightforward belief: the web didn't have to feel like a flat page. It could feel like a real place — with real depth and motion that still runs smoothly on a regular phone. And the code behind it should be solid enough to last as long as the design itself looks good.

People started noticing. One project led to another, mostly through word of mouth, and what began as a single person's idea slowly turned into a team. The standard stayed the same the whole time: every site we ship should look bold, move beautifully, and actually hold up when real people use it.

CORE PRACTICE
3D websites, SaaS, mobile, custom software

Over the years, the work has stretched well beyond websites. We build immersive 3D and interactive web experiences, but also the less glamorous things that keep a business running: e-commerce platforms, SaaS products, custom business software, mobile apps, and the internal tools teams actually use every day. We've taken over ageing legacy systems and brought them into the present without stopping the business in the process. Different problems, same approach — design that earns attention and engineering that quietly does its job for years.

Performance is a requirement

A performance budget is treated like any other acceptance criterion. It either passes or the work is not finished.

We set the Largest Contentful Paint target and the per-route JavaScript budget before the design is final, and treat a build that misses them as a bug — including on 3D scenes, where the budget covers geometry and texture weight too.

You own everything

Source code, database, deployment pipeline and documentation. No lock-in, no proprietary layer you have to license from us.

On handover you receive the repository, the infrastructure accounts in your own name, and an architecture document written for the developer who inherits it — not a slide deck.

Boring where it counts

Novel architecture is a cost paid by whoever maintains it. We are conservative in the foundations so we can be ambitious in the interface.

A relational database and a boring deployment pipeline underneath, so the budget for novelty goes where users actually see it: the real-time 3D layer, the interaction model, the motion.

Written decisions

Every significant architectural choice is written down with its trade-offs, so the reasoning outlives the people in the room.

Tenancy model, render strategy, sync and conflict rules each get a short decision record naming the option chosen, the options rejected and what would make us revisit it.

The 3D website is the front door of the studio, not a side room. The people who build the scene are the same people who build the SaaS platform, the mobile app and the API behind it. Each service has its own page on the services index.

One thing we don't negotiate: you own everything. When a project ends you hold the source code, the servers and the documentation, whether or not we're the ones maintaining it next year.
