// DETAIL
Software shaped like your process, not the vendor’s
You’ll know it’s time when someone’s job has quietly become “copy this from one system into the other”, or when the real numbers live in a spreadsheet the official tool was supposed to replace. That’s the point where a tool built around how your team actually works stops being a luxury and starts being the cheaper option. We sit with the people doing the work, model the process as it really runs — exceptions included — and build the system around that.
When custom is the right call
Off-the-shelf software is cheaper right up to the point where your team starts working around it. Duplicate data entry, exported spreadsheets, a person whose job is copying records between two systems — those are the signals that the tool is now the bottleneck.
What you get
A system modelled on how your business actually runs: your terminology, your approval steps, your reporting. No unused modules, no per-seat pricing that punishes growth, and no vendor deciding your roadmap.
Ownership
You own the source code, the database and the deployment pipeline. Role-based access, a migration path off whatever you use today, and training for the people who will live in the system are standard scope, not change requests. We document the architecture so a future team — ours or yours — can pick it up without an archaeology phase.
Where it sits in the wider system
These systems frequently sit behind or alongside a public-facing surface: a 3D website or a fast marketing site, a customer portal, a field app. Built together, they share one data model and one auth model, which is the difference between a product and three tools that happen to belong to the same company.
// QUESTIONS WE GET ASKED
How do you price custom software?
A fixed price for a defined first milestone — usually the one workflow that hurts most — then monthly for whatever comes next. You see working software at the end of every cycle, not a slide deck.
What happens to our old data?
It comes with you. Migration is part of the scope, with a mapping you sign off and a period where both systems run side by side until the new one is trusted.
What if we want to stop working with you?
You keep everything and any competent developer can pick it up, because the documentation was written for exactly that person. We would rather earn the next phase than lock you into it. If you are still weighing build against buy, this post is the honest version of the argument.
