// DETAIL
One rule decides everything: the calendar must never offer a slot you can’t actually deliver.
Availability is the hard part
Booking systems are easy until the constraints appear: two staff and one room, travel time between appointments, services that need a specific qualification. We model those constraints properly so the calendar cannot offer a slot that cannot be delivered.
Reducing no-shows
Confirmations, reminders on the channel customers actually read, deposits where appropriate, and self-service rescheduling that does not require a phone call.
The constraint
Everything here follows from one rule: the calendar must never offer a slot that cannot be delivered. That rule is harder than it sounds, because availability is the product of staff hours, resources, qualifications, travel time and buffers all at once, and it changes while a customer is mid-booking. We hold availability as a computed view with short-lived slot reservations, so two people opening the same time cannot both confirm it. Delivered as a SaaS platform or an internal tool, with a mobile app for staff in the field.
Staff view
A day view that works on a phone, clear change history, and permissions so staff see their own schedule without seeing everything.
